Katy and Orlando Team Up to Give Back

  • Dec 21 , 2016

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom spent their Tuesday dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus to surprise patients at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. According to the hospital's Facebook page, the couple greeted all of the kids and sang Christmas carols for them. The visit comes in the wake of Katy telling Entertainment Tonight and she and Orlando want to "try to do a better, bigger thing" with their celebrity influence. "He's been a UNICEF ambassador for over 10 years and I've only been a few years, so he's kind of shown me some of the ropes," she explained. "Everyone is a teacher in a relationship, that's how I see it now. We've taught each other a lot."

The biggest names in show business gathered to celebrate Tony Bennett's 90th birthday for the NBC special Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come that aired last night. Lady Gaga belted out Frank Sinatra's hit "The Lady Is the Tramp," which she and Tony covered on their 2014 duets album Cheek to Cheek. Michael Buble, Billy Joel, Elton John, and Bob Dylan also performed tributes for Tony. Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin served as the unofficial emcee for the celebration and repeatedly delivered his spot-on impersonation of the singer. At the end of the night, Tony himself took the stage--looking ridiculously healthy and happy for 90--and belted out a very appropriate Sinatra standard: "The Best Is Yet to Come." He then treated fans to a flawless rendition of his signature song "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." The hashtag #Tony90 began trending during the special and many Twitter users expressed their admiration for the singer. "Tony Bennett is the definition of cool," one tweeted. Another gushed, "Wow! Tony Bennet’s voice is still smooth as velvet even at 90. Timeless, indeed!"

Mariah Carey and her new boyfriend Bryan Tanaka are spending the holidays in Aspen, Colorado. My source tells me that the 46-year-old superstar and the 33-year-old backup dancer, along with Mariah's two children, are staying in a five-bedroom, five-bathroom Airbnb. "They're having an incredible and romantic trip and enjoying some relaxing family time before she heads off to perform in Times Square for New Year's Eve."  Mariah and Bryan were also spotted shopping at the high-end clothing store Moncler in Aspen on Monday. Meanwhile, Mariah's ex-husband Nick Cannon is expected to join the family--plus Bryan--for more holiday festivities later this week.

It's good to be the founder of Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg has posted a lighthearted video depicting his in-home, artificially intelligent virtual assistant Jarvis, which is voiced by none other than Morgan Freeman. The clip finds Freeman-as-Jarvis soothing Mark's baby with Mandarin, letting his parents into the house, announcing his breakfast being ready, and playing DJ. Although Jarvis is an in-progress real-life project, Mark stresses that the video he shared was a "fun summary and not a live demo."

Alan Thicke's wife Tanya Callau has spoken out for the first time since the Growing Pains star passed away last week from a heart attack at the age of 69. "It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time," she said in a statement. "Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke. Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning." Several stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Bob Saget, Alex Trebek, and Bill Maher attended a memorial held for Alan on Sunday night.

Lena Dunham took to Instagram on Tuesday to apologize for saying on her Women of the Hour podcast last week that she hadn't had an abortion, but wished she had. The 30-year-old Girls creator called her remark a "distasteful joke" and insisted that she takes women's reproductive choices very seriously.

James Franco has revealed that he's not as good at dating as he'd like to be. He says he thinks he’s a caring guy, but he’s not great at the grand gestures.  He also admits that there has been at least a couple of mom’s who haven’t liked him.  Mind you, he says no parents have disliked him like Brian [Cranston]'s character dislikes him in his new movie.

Cindy Crawford has admitted that she's had a tough time embracing the fact that she's getting older--especially when social media trolls are constantly scrutinizing her appearance.  She says, "I don't need everyone on Instagram pointing out that I don't look the same way I did when I was 20. I know that.  Sometimes when you're in the public eye, it can be hard, and that's where you kind of have to work on yourself." The 50-year-old supermodel adds, "No matter what I do, I'm not going to look 20, or 30. I just want to look great for 50." However, Cindy admits that it's easier said than done. "When I'm 70 and 80, I'm probably going to look back and ask what was I being so hard on myself for," she concedes. "I think if my approach was to be less hard on myself, then maybe the world will follow it, too!”

Mischa Barton has admitted that she absolutely hated competing on Dancing With the Stars. "I had no idea it would be so bad," she admits in a candid new interview with The Ringer. "I got told off by my dancer. I was supposed to control the costumes--I was told that I could do the design aspect of it, that’s kind of the reason why I agreed to do it. That didn’t happen. It wasn’t collaborative like a choreographer on a film set." She adds," I was so confused by it. It was like The Hunger Games. It was all a popularity contest. It was awful. I was so glad to get kicked off.” Barton and her pro dance partner, Artem Chigvintsev, were the second couple eliminated during the 22nd season of the series. The 30-year-old actress also touches on her decision to enter a psychiatric ward at the height of her fame when she was just 23. "It was an intense time," she recalls. "It used to be like 10 or 12 paparazzi swarming the car all the time. It was no way to live. And the magazines, they insulted and judged everything I did. Everyone I dated. I really wanted to step back and take a break and reassess."
